THE CYCLIC DANCE OF NATURE Punaravartan in dance form
To introduce the idea of a circular economy and revive the philosophy of a cyclic existence, in 2023 we invited Sayali Patwardhan, a young and talented dancer based in Pune , to develop a short dance performance on the topic.
Her efforts have resulted in an engaging performance which visualise the cycles of Nature through embodied movement. The idea is that children who have now become accustomed to screen learning are inspired to move and sing and dance and through these activities, can integrate the idea of a cyclic world.
नमस्कार!
मेरा नाम सायली पटवर्धन है। पर्यावरण एवं सामाजिक मुद्दों को लेकर काम करनेवाले संगठनों के साथ मैं जुड़ी हुई हूं।
पिछले वर्ष पुन:आवर्तन अभियान में मैंने भाग लिया था और बहुत खुशी मिली थी। इस साल, मनीषा ने एक नई और सुंदर कल्पना मेरे साथ बांटी। वह यह है, कि नृत्य – नाटिका के स्वरूप में हम बच्चों से पुन:आवर्तन की बातें करें। तो इन दिनों मैं इस प्रकल्प पर काम कर रही हूं। आशा है कि मैं बढ़िया काम कर पाऊं और यह अनोखी कोशिश सब तक पहुंचा सकूं।
नृत्य प्रस्तुति की पृष्ठभूमि –
पुन: आवर्तन का अर्थ है चक्र जो चलता ही रहता है। जीवन का चक्र भी ऐसा ही है। जहां से शुरूवात होती है, वहीं पर अंत होता है। और फिर से उस ही बिंदू से नई शुरूवात होती है। यह यात्रा निरंतर जारी रहती है। इसे हम दिन-रात, ऋतु-चक्र, और विश्व के ऐसे अनेक सारे उदाहरणों में पाते हैं। हमारे प्रिय गणेश भगवान का वार्षिक उत्सव भी हमें यही सीख देता है। भगवान की मूर्ति मट्टी से बनती है। मट्टी पानी में घुल जाती है। वही मट्टी अगले वर्ष, एक नया रूप लेकर, एक नई मनमोहक मूरत बन जाती है।
इस वास्तविकता और संदेश को में नृत्य-नाट्य स्वरूप में प्रस्तुत करना चाहती हूं।

ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE:
The piece introduces the concept of cyclic thinking by using illustrations from cycles in Nature. It has a variety of music and a clear narration in both English and Hindi. It also brings in elements of the Ganesh festival to contextualise the need to recycle. It ends with a short description of how we can easily recycle the clay after visarjan.
After the performance which is about 12 mn , Sayali will lead the children in some physical movements that embody cyclic approach – following which there will be time for a question and answer with the children. Sayali will be supported by one more member of the Punaravartan Core Team to do this.
Age group: Std 5 to Std 8 ideally but it can take younger and older students also
Audience size: 50 to 100 students
Location: Preferably indoors with a sound system
Contribution: Sliding scales between 3000 to 5000 Rs per institutional event
